About

Douglas Crockett is a Black American artist originally from Detroit, Michigan. A self-taught artist, he began painting while on lockdown during the pandemic in June of 2020. Struggling with substance abuse at the time, he used painting as a way to creatively express the multitude of emotions he was feeling. Ultimately, he was able to get sober while continuing to perfect his craft as an artist. Douglas Crockett's artwork gives one a look into his inner thoughts while also giving his perspective on certain things in life. Deteriorating mental health and relying on substances to cope once consumed him but now he uses emotions felt to fuel his creativity which has helped him to produce beautiful works of art.
